“Every dreamer knows that it is entirely possible to be homesick for a place you’ve never been to, perhaps more homesick than for familiar ground.”
- Judith Thurman
About

Hi, I’m Laura, and Wayfinder is my online (video based) therapy practice.
Online counseling is a journey undertaken by two people; one a compassionate guide well-versed in the theory and practice of relational, attachment-focused, psychodynamic psychotherapy; the other a brave and willing seeker with a longing and motivation to gain clarity, to feel better, to heal what might feel broken. I bring my professional, academic and personal experience; you bring your stories, courage, and self-expertise. Together we voyage toward a deeper and more coherent understanding of why, who and where you are and the journey itself becomes the repair.
My professional background
I received a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 1995. Then in 2000 I completed a Master’s in Divinity at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. After spending a decade working in NGOs as a service provider and administrator, I shifted my focus to providing psychotherapy to individuals and couples. My background allows me to specialize in developmental and war trauma, conflict-zone overwhelm and cross cultural issues.
I began formal training in relational, psychodynamic psychotherapy in 2005 and was licensed by the state of California in 2009.
